During the National Day holiday, criminal police incidents in Guangdong dropped by 34.18% year-on-year.

On October 8, officials from the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department shared remarkable outcomes from this year’s National Day holiday. Their report highlighted a significant 34.18% decrease in criminal offenses and a 42.21% drop in traffic accidents compared to the previous year. They noted that traffic on major highways and main roads was smooth, while 677 popular tourist attractions and 236 large-scale events were successfully organized.

In order to achieve these impressive results, law enforcement agencies in Guangdong proactively aligned their efforts with the directives from the Guangdong Provincial Committee, the provincial government, and the Ministry of Public Security. They meticulously planned and executed security operations to ensure a safe and stable environment throughout the holiday.

During the holiday period, police increased patrols in areas with higher incident rates, especially during peak times, deploying an average of 125,000 personnel daily to address public safety. Their strict protocols included joint armed patrols with the armed police, rapid response strategies, integrated security measures, and adaptable operational plans tailored to various circumstances.

With a substantial number of visitors expected and numerous large events occurring simultaneously, police effectively collaborated with market regulation and emergency management agencies to conduct on-site assessments. They emphasized the safety responsibilities of event organizers and developed specific safety plans for each event and tourist location. This ensured sufficient policing for hazard identification, order maintenance, traffic management, and emergency response.

Throughout the holiday, Guangdong mobilized 102,000 personnel for security efforts, resulting in well-managed conduct at 236 major public events and over 236 key tourist sites rated 4 stars or higher. Anticipating a surge in travelers on major routes, traffic police proactively identified 150 potential congestion points and devised targeted management strategies for each. This careful planning led to a notable decrease in road traffic accidents, with no major or prolonged traffic jams reported during the holiday.
