National Lottery Trust Fund Proposes Youth Empowerment Through Renewable Energy

The National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) is making strides to equip vulnerable youth in Nigeria with renewable energy skills, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s initiative to create jobs and improve electricity access nationwide. In a recent meeting with the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adekola Adelabu, NLTF’s Executive Secretary, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju, revealed an exciting new training program focused on producing 1KVA solar panels specifically designed for rural youth.

“We recognize the necessity of collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Power to assist those living in poverty who currently lack electricity access,” Adeyanju stated. He added, “Under this administration, we’ve witnessed unprecedented improvements in electricity availability since 1999. Our agency is firmly committed to uplifting the nation by utilizing funds from gaming companies to promote impactful initiatives. We are actively seeking partnerships to create renewable energy opportunities for Nigerian youth.”

Adeyanju elaborated on the program’s goals, saying, “The NLTF is dedicated to empowering the underprivileged by providing training that enables youth to manufacture 1KVA solar power systems. These systems can serve various purposes, such as charging stations for phones, powering barbershops, and aiding in the preservation of agricultural products.”

Minister Adelabu commended Adeyanju’s dedication, stating, “I truly appreciate your commitment to vulnerable populations, particularly in rural areas. This aligns seamlessly with our objective of reducing the 42% of Nigerians who lack access to reliable electricity.” He highlighted the importance of empowering rural youth, commenting, “Your focus on youth development is essential, as many in these communities face limited opportunities for advancement. This initiative will play a crucial role in their development. We’re excited to collaborate with you, and we welcome your willingness to partner rather than go it alone.”

This NLTF initiative fits perfectly with the Federal Ministry of Power’s vision to improve off-grid electricity solutions in rural areas, with the potential to empower local youth and drive both economic development and better energy accessibility.
