2024 Douyin Wonderful Night ends in Beijing, and national trendy culture lights up the -most popular stage-

On the evening of October 12, the 2024 Douyin Wonderful Night wrapped up in Beijing. This year’s event, themed “Everyone Has a Wonderful Ability,” was a collaboration between Douyin and Beijing TV, with simultaneous broadcasts across 12 platforms including Xigua Video and Fresh Time TV. It brought together numerous creators from Douyin, showcasing a rich audiovisual feast that merged tradition and modernity, as well as ethnic and global cultures.

More than 30 stars and 89 Douyin creators participated in co-creating the show. From remixes of popular memes and songs to cross-border interpretations of traditional culture, a diverse array of creators from different generations collaborated to display their unique talents. The event featured 29 performances across various fields such as music, dance, martial arts, and drama, transforming popular Douyin content into a shareable entertainment experience. A Douyin representative noted that everyone possesses unique creative potential, and they hope that Wonderful Night serves as a platform for ordinary users and creators to showcase their talents and charm, allowing their brilliance to shine on a grand stage.

The event also highlighted the resurgence of national culture, offering a three-hour deep dive into “Bloodline Awakening,” a performance that blended folk dance and street dance styles. Singer Liu Yu, dressed in a striking red and white costume, impressed the audience with his dedication as he rehearsed under the guidance of dance teachers. The performance emphasized that local culture can resonate universally, demonstrating the vitality of national trends on stage.

In recent years, Douyin has seen a surge in high-quality content that innovatively combines cultural tourism with traditional heritage. According to the “Douyin 2024 Rural Cultural Tourism Data Report,” there were nearly 2.8 trillion views of new rural content this year, with almost 1.99 million rural visitors placing orders through Douyin, generating over 4.7 billion yuan for 20,000 rural tourism businesses.

Two traditional artisans showcased their work by creating intangible cultural heritage fish lanterns and painting ancient murals as part of the performance. Both craftsmen, who graduated in cultural relic restoration, harnessed their love for traditional arts to promote cultural revival through short videos on Douyin.

The stage also featured the “Dou Band,” composed of Douyin original music creators, who merged classical and popular music styles to present a new form of “popular symphony.” Not to miss were the annual BGM hits performed by musician Wang Bo, whose viral songs like “Hello, I Have a Hoodie” energized the crowd. Additionally, several talented animators graced the stage, thrilling anime fans with their presence enhanced by AR technology.

In 2024, Douyin witnessed 3.01 billion plays of memorable life moments under the theme “I Remember.” Many popular Douyin songs became keys connecting countless ordinary people’s memories. During the show, five Douyin musicians from different generations, spanning over 70 years, sang “I Remember,” accompanied by a montage of nostalgic photographs of everyday people, capturing moments of love and family.

Throughout the event, creators were not only performers but actively engaged in various aspects of production, including creative direction, hosting, stage design, makeup, and props. Wang Ke, a hand shadow creator, impressed the audience with his dynamic performances as he seamlessly transitioned into the “Bloodline Awakening” segment, demonstrating the martial spirit of a young hero. With over 3.07 million followers on Douyin, he aims to perform on major stages, and his hand shadow video inspired by Michael Jackson topped Douyin’s trending charts, receiving nearly 6 million likes.

Additionally, the immersive drama “Eternal Capital Chang’an” showcased the story of ancient book restoration, highlighting the mission of digital preservation of cultural heritage. The event also included five satellite venues, drawing a large number of visitors to locations like Huaxi LIVE, Shougang Park, and The Box Chaoyang, with over ten thousand people engaging during the event.

A Douyin representative shared that genuine stories about living earnestly and pursuing dreams resonate deeply with the public. The platform continually encourages users to record and witness beauty in their lives, with hopes that this event illuminates even more lives in the future.
