-Touch History, See the World- disability integration event was held at Yangling Museum of Emperor Jing of Han Dynasty
On October 20, the Han Jingdi Yangling Museum partnered with the Shaanxi Provincial Library to host a unique event titled “Touching History, Viewing the World,” focusing on integrating people with disabilities into cultural activities.
During the event, He Hong, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Han Jingdi Yangling Museum, shared insights from his book “Bogu: Caring for Culture—An Interpretation of Han Yangling Culture.” He discussed the book’s content, format, and significance, while also presenting other works like “Bogu: Sports Awareness and Practice in the Han Dynasty,” “Bogu: Four Seasons—The Twenty-Four Solar Terms,” and “One Hundred Questions About Yangling,” which is part of the Shaanxi Provincial Library’s collection. This sharing deepened attendees’ understanding of Han Yangling culture.
The Han Jingdi Yangling Museum donated three sets of the “Bogu” series to the Shaanxi Provincial Library, which, in turn, awarded the museum with a certificate of collection. The event also marked the official launch of the Shaanxi Provincial Library’s “Touching History, Viewing the World” reading base, aimed at individuals with disabilities.
In an interactive learning session, students toured the Archaeological Exhibition Hall and the Underground Museum, alongside an exhibition of children’s art titled “Dreams Built by Children: Celebrating National Day.” They had the opportunity to handle replicas of cultural relics, which allowed them to immerse themselves in the beauty of ancient civilization and traditional culture. Educational activities included the “Blind Children’s Touch Book,” simulated archaeology, and tile printing.
He Hong emphasized the museum’s commitment to providing barrier-free services to enhance learning opportunities for special groups. The collaboration with the Shaanxi Provincial Library is a significant step towards realizing this vision, aimed at making traditional culture more accessible to a wider audience.
Looking ahead, the Han Jingdi Yangling Museum plans to deepen its partnership with the Shaanxi Provincial Library to create new opportunities for integrated cultural activities, fostering a more inclusive, diverse, and vibrant cultural exchange platform.
