The first China Radio and Television Quality Creation Conference -Beijing Night- was held in Beijing

On the evening of October 10, a significant event that gathered leading figures from the broadcasting, television, and online media industries took place—the inaugural China Broadcasting and Television Quality Creation Conference, known as “Beijing Night.” This gathering focused on showcasing and promoting high-quality works in broadcasting and television, aiming to drive innovation and development within the industry.

To foster high-quality content creation, the National Radio and Television Administration partnered with the Beijing Municipal Government to host this inaugural conference. The initiative encourages collaboration in creative efforts, marking the beginning of new advancements. “Beijing Night” served as a centerpiece of the conference, providing a comprehensive overview of the “Beijing Audio-Visual” art projects, announcing the “Beijing Chaoyang Plan for Building an International First-Class Film Production Base,” and launching a financial support initiative for local audio-visual development. Additionally, a number of upcoming television dramas, documentaries, and online cultural programs were introduced, highlighting the achievements of Beijing’s creative endeavors across various media formats.

During the event, Zhu Yonglei, Deputy Director of the National Radio and Television Administration, and Si Ma Hong, Vice Mayor of Beijing, took to the stage to express their hopes for the development of the capital’s broadcasting and television sectors, along with their congratulations on the event’s success. Wang Jiequn, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Beijing Radio and Television Bureau, unveiled the “2024 Beijing Audio-Visual Artistic Quality Projects,” which features 120 works spanning categories such as television dramas, animated series, documentaries, radio and television programs, online dramas, web films, short web series, animated web programs, and variety shows. This diverse array reflects a vibrant creative landscape in the capital’s audio-visual arts.

Throughout the event, representatives of several notable projects presented their work, including dramas like “Safety Crisis,” “Mermaid,” “Shh, the King is Hibernating,” “In Your Time,” and documentaries such as “He Xiangning,” along with the online cultural program “Shining! The Grand Canal.” These creators shared their insights and behind-the-scenes experiences, highlighting the online cultural program’s launch coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the Grand Canal’s UNESCO World Heritage listing—a celebration of the canal’s cultural legacy.

A highlight of the night was the launch of the 2024 Beijing Radio and Television Network Audio-Visual Development Fund, designed to support and promote outstanding broadcasting and online media works, injecting new energy into the industry. During the event, leaders and prominent industry guests presented certificates to representatives of 72 distinguished projects. Furthermore, Chaoyang District introduced the “Beijing Chaoyang Plan for Building an International First-Class Film Production Base,” aiming to enhance high-quality film production services and establish a leading film production hub in China.

Attendees praised the inaugural China Broadcasting and Television Quality Creation Conference—Beijing Night—as a vital platform for pooling creative resources, fostering artistic innovation, and boosting industry morale. It showcased a fresh atmosphere and new trends in capital artistic creation. The hope is that these 120 projects will serve as a catalyst for producing more works that embody the capital’s characteristics, Chinese culture, and an international perspective. The successful organization of this conference not only provided a feast for the senses but also reignited the creative passions of the broadcasting and online audio-visual sectors.
