According to recent reports from the China Railway Nanchang Group (referred to as “Nanchang Railway”), between January and September 2024, the company successfully transported 12.92 million passengers, marking a 7.1% increase compared to the previous year. Specifically, Jiangxi and Fujian provinces saw 6.804 million and 6.114 million passengers, representing year-on-year growths of 8% and 6.1%, respectively, both achieving historic highs. The railway transport within the two provinces has remained safe and orderly.
This year, Nanchang Railway has focused on a people-centered development approach, proactively responding to the country’s ongoing economic recovery and the accelerated movement of people. The company has deepened structural reforms in transportation supply, diligently organized passenger transport, and optimized its offerings to ensure that the public can travel safely, smoothly, and comfortably.
With a continuously expanding network, Nanchang Railway has skillfully coordinated transportation capacities and significantly enhanced train operation plans by utilizing high-speed trains and other advanced equipment. To meet the diverse travel demands of passengers, the company has been refining its train scheduling.
They have optimized services for trains headed to major destinations such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, ensuring full capacity operation on popular routes. Notably, for lines experiencing high demand for ticketing, like those between Nanchang and neighboring cities (e.g., Pingxiang, Shangrao, and Hangzhou), as well as the Jingjiu Railway from Nanchang to Ganzhou and Ruijin, capacity has been accurately increased. This year alone, Nanchang Railway has added 63 passenger trains on these routes, including 14 long-distance services to cities like Beijing and Shanghai, and 49 short-distance services between Jiangxi and Fujian provinces to better accommodate passenger needs.
With a blend of the warmth of traditional trains and the speed of high-speed rail, Nanchang Railway is expanding its services to cater to the growing tourism demand. New initiatives such as “high-speed rail + tourism” and “high-speed rail + intangible cultural heritage” have been rolled out, along with innovative ticketing products that have gained popularity among travelers. In July, the company launched four new travel packages themed “Red Gannan”, offering routes connecting Nanchang to Jiujiang and Longyan, among others. These travel tickets help streamline the process for passengers by eliminating unnecessary steps like ticket purchasing and changes, enabling more flexible travel options.
To address passengers’ personalized dining needs during their journeys, Nanchang Railway is enhancing its “One Box of Good Meals” initiative, improving its hot and cold meal supply system. The company has established focused dining venues at major stations including Nanchang, Fuzhou, and Xiamen, while also increasing the development of boxed meal options. Breakfast and late-night snacks are now available at select stations to meet the diverse meal requirements of travelers around the clock.
Moving forward, Nanchang Railway is committed to closely monitoring changes in passenger demand, strengthening transportation organization, dynamically optimizing train schedules, diversifying service offerings, and enhancing the quality of services on board and at stations. They aim to continually improve the travel experience for all passengers.
