On October 25, the Chengdu Sanxingdui Museum and Chengdu Airlines celebrated the inaugural flight of the ARJ21 airplane, dubbed “Sanxingdui,” at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. This marked the beginning of a fascinating journey that blends culture and technology, all while highlighting the allure of the ancient Shu civilization.

The theme of the aircraft is “From Ancient Shu Sanxingdui to a New Century for China.” Its design prominently features the iconic golden mask, complemented by a bronze-green hue that reflects the passage of over three millennia. The sleek design of the aircraft’s underbelly draws inspiration from the new pavilion’s concept at the Sanxingdui Museum, known as “Stacked Stars, Eye of Ancient Shu.” This innovative blend of ancient heritage and modern technology transforms the “Sanxingdui” into a bridge connecting the past with the future, giving passengers a unique experience of both historical culture and contemporary innovation during their flight.

Inside the cabin, passengers will find Sanxingdui-themed seat headrests, luggage racks, and tray tables, creating an immersive environment that brings ancient Shu culture to life. The flight attendants engaged passengers with informative talks about Sanxingdui culture, interactive quizzes, and even distributed cultural creative products, allowing travelers to intimately experience the charm of this ancient civilization.

A representative from the Sanxingdui Museum explained that the “Sanxingdui” theme aircraft represents a significant collaboration between Chengdu Airlines and the museum, aimed at promoting ancient Shu culture and enhancing the cultural tourism brand of Sichuan. As the museum approaches its 27th anniversary, the launch of the domestically-produced ARJ21 aircraft, adorned with symbols of ancient Shu hopes, signifies a realization of the aspirations of its early inhabitants to reach the skies.

According to museum officials, the introduction of the “Sanxingdui” flight signifies a comprehensive promotional effort for tourists entering Sichuan, as well as an expansion of the Sanxingdui cultural network.
