Dodgers say Shohei Ohtani will play in World Series Game 3 despite shoulder injury

In a recent interview, the Los Angeles Dodgers confirmed that superstar Shohei Ohtani will be ready to play as the World Series shifts to New York for Game 3 on Monday. Ohtani faced a scare after partially dislocating his left shoulder while sliding into second base during the Dodgers’ victory in Game 2, raising concerns about the potential end of his season. However, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts assured ESPN’s Karl Ravech that Ohtani is doing well and will take the field tomorrow.

“He’s in a great spot. He’s playing tomorrow,” Roberts stated.

Reflecting on Ohtani’s performance, it’s clear he has had a remarkable regular season, becoming the first player in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season. Despite that, his postseason numbers are slightly below his standards, with an .863 OPS compared to his regular season average of .945. So far in the World Series, he is hitting just 1 for 8 across the first two games.

Interestingly, Ohtani has managed to dodge major injuries this season, unlike many of his teammates in the pitching rotation who have spent significant time on the injured list. Los Angeles is now just two wins away from clinching the best-of-seven series, which would mark their second championship in five years.
