-Mount Tai is really shocking- – A visiting group of foreign consular and business representatives in Hong Kong climbed to the top of Mount Tai
On October 23rd, a delegation of foreign diplomats and business representatives visiting from Hong Kong took a trip to Mount Tai, organized by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong. Among those present were consuls-general from various countries, leaders of foreign business associations, and executives from multinational corporations and financial institutions. They experienced firsthand the rich historical culture and stunning natural beauty of China.
Benjamin, a representative from the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, excitedly shared his experience after reaching the summit. “We truly made it to the top of Mount Tai! Although we may have ‘cheated’ a bit by driving partway up, taking a cable car, and then hiking the final stretch,” he remarked with a laugh. He expressed how rewarding it felt to stand at the peak, noting, “The experience was fantastic—such beautiful scenery, especially since we were fortunate with perfect weather today.”
Despite the mountain’s high elevation, Benjamin felt a familiar sense of joy in climbing and hiking. “Whether in Hong Kong or Switzerland, I love the thrill of hiking. It’s not just about reaching the steep summit; it’s also about taking in the views, breathing in the fresh air, and enjoying the gentle breeze.”
Mount Tai, with its majestic landscape and rich history, has been a site for emperors to hold ceremonies and for poets to leave their marks, making it a UNESCO World Heritage site. Benjamin was particularly struck by the historical inscriptions found on the mountain. “It’s incredible to see these ancient stone carvings, some of which have survived for thousands of years. They tell a story of such deep history,” he noted.
When asked if he would consider hiking Mount Tai entirely on foot next time, Benjamin smiled and said, “If time allows, I would definitely choose to hike all the way. That would be a truly unforgettable experience.”
