Inspiring Youthful Dreams, Taiwan Youth Walk to Experience Social Development in Jiangning, Nanjing
On October 24, a special event titled “Taiwanese Youth Hike through Jiangning, Igniting the Dreams of Youth” was hosted by the Jiangning District Taiwan Affairs Office and organized by the Nanjing Taiwan Youth Entrepreneurship Academy. This initiative saw many young people from Taiwan visiting the NARI Group Corporation and the picturesque village of Shecun to experience the region’s social development firsthand.
Situated in the southern part of Nanjing, Jiangning District spans over 1,500 square kilometers and has a population of more than 1.9 million. In 2023, it achieved a GDP of over 300 billion yuan.
During their visit to the NARI Group Corporation, a prominent provider of intelligent equipment and comprehensive solutions in the energy and industrial control sectors, young Taiwanese entrepreneurs were engaged with various power and industrial control systems on display. Wei Hanjun, a Taiwanese entrepreneur, excitedly shared her experience: “When I clicked on the display screen, I felt a sense of amazement. It showcased advanced autonomous safety and stability control systems and energy management technologies used in the Wudongde Hydropower Station.”
Chen Yanzhen, a Taiwan student at Nanjing University, expressed her admiration while hiking through Shecun. Originally from Taoyuan, Taiwan, she is a sophomore at Ming Chuan University and had come to Nanjing as an exchange student two months ago. “My parents often took me hiking in Taiwan. Since arriving in Nanjing, I’ve enjoyed exploring scenic spots like Xuanwu Lake and Mochou Lake. This is my first time visiting the beautiful village of Shecun,” she remarked.
The village of Shecun has stunning landscapes with rolling mountains and winding roads. Since 2015, it has strategically developed its tourism industry, and in 2023, it welcomed 480,000 visitors, generating nearly 35 million yuan in tourism revenue. “As I hiked through Shecun, I experienced the breathtaking beauty of forests, fields, and rivers, with happy villagers and bustling tourists. It’s a vibrant scene that embodies the essence of rural revitalization,” Chen added. “The environment here truly serves as a strong engine for rural development.”
Today, Jiangning District is experiencing rapid growth. A representative from the Jiangning District Taiwan Affairs Office expressed, “We sincerely invite more young people from Taiwan to come to Jiangning and learn about our region. We are committed to supporting Taiwanese youth in pursuing their dreams here, helping them root themselves and achieve mutual success.”
