Two cadres in Guangdong were expelled from the party and public offices

On October 22, reports emerged from the Guangdong Provincial Discipline Inspection Commission regarding serious misconduct involving Liu Shaorong, the former deputy head of the Fifth Inspection Team of the Guangdong Provincial Committee, and Chen Shaoxiong, the former deputy secretary of the South China Agricultural University’s Party Committee and former head of its Discipline Inspection Commission. Both men were expelled from the Communist Party and from public office.

Following the approval from the Guangdong Provincial Committee, a formal investigation was launched into Liu Shaorong’s serious violations of party discipline and law. The findings revealed that Liu had lost his political ideals, strayed from his mission, and displayed disloyalty to the Party. He actively resisted organizational review, ignored the central government’s Eight Regulations, and improperly accepted gifts and travel arrangements. Additionally, he failed to report personal matters as required, abused his power for personal gain, and engaged in bribery, accumulating vast illegal assets.

Liu Shaorong’s actions constituted severe violations of the Party’s political, organizational, and integrity rules, and he is suspected of engaging in bribery. His misconduct continued unabated post-18th National Congress, leading to significant repercussions. As a result, the Guangdong Provincial Discipline Inspection Commission proposed his expulsion from the Party and from public service, mandated the confiscation of his illegal gains, and referred his criminal activities to the judiciary for prosecution.

Similarly, Chen Shaoxiong faced an investigation approved by the Guangdong Provincial Committee for serious infractions. It was found that he also abandoned his ideals and disregarded his commitment to the Party. Chen violated the central government’s guidelines by accepting gifts and utilized his official position to benefit relatives. His actions included leveraging his position for profit in project developments and improperly receiving substantial sums in financial gains.

Chen Shaoxiong’s conduct severely breached the principles of integrity, resulting in significant violations of his official duties and suspected bribery. Like Liu, his actions post-18th National Congress warrant serious action. The findings have led to recommendations for his expulsion from the Party and public office, the confiscation of his ill-gotten assets, and the referral of his criminal conduct to prosecutorial authorities for legal action. The formal decision regarding Chen’s expulsion will be ratified at the upcoming meeting of the Guangdong Provincial Discipline Inspection Commission.
